Where shoulld I stay if I have to spend the night in San Jose?

We recomend a few places depending on your budget and preferece.

Here's a few to choose from from low to high. We usually recommend Hamaka Hotel.

What do you suggest I pack for my trip?

Please click here to view our "Travel Information" page where you will find our list of "Essentials" - an extremely helpful checklist you should use for your trip.

What kind and how many boards should I take?

Most people bring 2-4 boards. Most people will ride their standard shortboards most of the time but a good idea to follow is to track the swell forecast before your trip and plan accordingly. I generally bring 4 surfboards - two shortboards (6'2"), one mid sized board for when it gets a little bigger (6'5"), and one gun for the biggest days (6'10"). If you are going to bring an extra board we would suggest a replacement for the board you will use the most as it is not uncommon to break boards.

We have also stocked the resort with a variety of surfboards readily available for travelers who would prefer not to have to hassle with the costs and burden of transporting their own boards through airports and across the globe. Since Tuflite boards are created with a consistent shape every time you'll be able to surf the same board you surf at home.

What types of services and amenities are available at the resort?

Please refer to the "Villas" section to see a detailed list of what Surf Vista Vllas has to offer!

What type of health precautions should I take?

Most travelers usually update their tetanus and hepatitis shots before traveling to any remote region of the world.

If you are prone to seasickness please bring something to counteract its effects such as dramamine or bonine. For more information please consult your doctor.

Do I need travel insurance?

Its up to you. Pura Vida!

What documents do I need to take?

Citizens of the United States or Australia need a passport with at least six months of validity left and one other form of identification.

Here's a few to choose from from low to high. We usually recommend Hamaka Hotel.

Is there a photographer or videographer available for my trip?

If this is something you're interested in we can get you connected with professional photographers and videographers in the area.

Can I recharge my video camera etc.. at the resort?

The resort uses 220V electricity with 120V converters. you should be able to charge whatever you need but it doesn't hurt to bring a converter set just in case. Be very careful before you plug anything in! If you have a concern please consult our Island Manager on site for help and information according to device. IPods should be charged through a computer only!

Where shoulld I stay if I have to spend the night in San Jose?

We have some fishing equipment at the resort, but if you are a keen fisherman bring some of your own lures and maybe your own casting rod. We also have two professional spearguns that can be rented for s nominal charge.

If you must bring yourt own spear gun there is a risk of it being confiscated by customs. We suggest you break it into it's components and separate them in your baggage.

If you'd like to snorkel please bring your own equipment for sanitary reasons. Kandui Resort will have a few sets to use but we highly recommend using your own personal set whenever possible.

Can I be contacted while I'm at the resort?

The resort currently uses a variety of ways to stay in touch with the outside world. Most guests prefer to bring their own computers with their own Skype accounts and talk online.

However, for a nominal fee we have a cell phone if need be.

Can I celebrate a special occasion at the resort?

Hopefully with enough advanced notice we can accommodate any and all requests.
